SQUARE PATTIES

AND OTHER SCRAPS

Hurtle through Newland’s past, meet a rabble of residents and find out what life was like as a child on the avenue a long, long, long time ago. Discover Flash Gordon on Saturday Matinees, swimming in the lecky, chasing the milk cart, soot on your pants, street parties and square patties.  Tales of growing up down Newland Avenue in the 40s and 50s have been collected for this family show. Watch mischievous and heartwarming memories played out in colourful and unexpected ways.

HENRIETTA DUCKWORTH

'Brilliant poor theatre storytelling'

IAIN BLOOMFIELD

'They managed to create something that absolutely felt like it should be performed in a community hall but was knitted together so cleverly and performed so sharply, with such zip, that it transcended itself. The participation was a joy, the storytelling was honest and done with a completely spellbinding simplicity. The smiles all around me said it all.’

HANNAH BUTTERFIELD

'This work welcomes its audience with open arms. It knows exactly who it’s for... yet happily welcomes visitors'
