ARTIST CALL OUT

31/1/2020

THE PROJECT

The Herd Theatre are currently developing The Last Dinosaur, a new show for 3-6 year olds for the Autumn of 2020. Part performance, part immersive experience, The Last Dinosaur considers the only surviving dinosaur on an earth in-between two eras. It’s a show about how we survive when we’re by ourselves, and the importance of the imagination.

The creation of this show will be a collaboration between The Herd’s professional artists and a group of young people. The artists and the group of young people will work together to ask questions, to test ideas and to generate material around the themes of imagination, isolation, and resilience, through the lens of dinosaurs.

The result of these workshops will be two fold:

  1. The show, which will be staged and performed by professionals, will respond to the ideas, inspiration, reference points, questions and images generated through these workshops.

  2. The workshop participants will create a unique piece of art with a visual artist, reflecting the show’s explorations. This piece of art/ pieces of art will be exhibited in Hull, and potentially tour with the show.

The Last Dinosaur is a co-production between The Herd Theatre and Back To Ours in association with Barnsley Civic and Arc Stockton, supported by Arts Council England and Hull City Arts.
